Single-Use Systems Boost Viral Titer from HEK293 Cell Culture
Depth filtration has become a trusted standby for scientists and engineers looking to separate viral vectors – a popular delivery system for gene-based therapies and vaccines – from the HEK293 cell culture in which they’re typically grown. But as emerging therapies advance from the lab and into the clinic, and viral vector production demands rise to fuel these therapies, relying on depth filtration alone to clarify HEK293 cell culture and collect viral titer becomes too labor-intensive, costly, and inefficient to make for a seamless scaling-up transition. In this case study, we show how the UFMini single-use centrifuge significantly reduces filtration needs and drastically enhances the amount of viral titer collected when compared to conventional methods.
